The One Moto Show 2018

In the nine years since Thor Drake and friends started the One Moto Show in Portland, Oregon, this event has evolved into a benchmark for the contemporary motorcycle world. The See See crew takes fun seriously and it really shows. From Friday evening to Sunday morning, it’s a celebration of motorcycles and the people who love ‘em. Portland is known for it’s awesome food and drink, so it’s no surprise that it’s easy to eat well at the One Show. This year ran smoothly and the weather cooperated for once making for a fantastic weekend fueled by good beer, two-stroke smoke and good vibes.

One thing that makes this event different than most “shows” parallels the “Keep Portland Weird” bumper stickers you see all over town. There isn’t another moto-gathering with this much diversity, and that open-mindedness brings out some neat bikes that probably wouldn’t wouldn’t be as welcome at other events. Thor’s love of racing is immediately evident since there is a wild assortment of high-perfomance machines on display. Upstairs had a fine collection of hand-built choppers and there was no shortage of the Portland staple–vintage dirt bikes. The walls were lined with original art and we are stoked that our Lane Splitter helmets were the raw materials for the very talented painters who participated in the 21 Helmets show.

There are so many talented builders and promoters these days it’s hard to find a city that doesn’t host some kind of moto-party. With nearly a decade headstart, the One Show in Portland is definitely one of the leaders and we’re stoked to be a part of it. See ya next year!

Look at all those Honda XLs!!! My first scoot was a 82 XL250R. I bought it as a commuter when I was stationed in Japan. Great bikes! Cable and rod operated drum brakes! 6 speed too! I put on some Michelan Siracs (75/25 tire) and rode until I was forced to sell it. I had purchased another XL (1200S) and the base said I could have not two vehicles due to limited parking. I argued that one could park 4 bikes in one parking spot. It is good to see those in such good shape!
