On goals: “Getting this thing done on time was important to me… I wanted to ride it out to Born-Free and show everybody that it’s road worthy and it can do the miles.”Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Biltwell’s People’s Champ Custom Motorcycle Competition gives blue-collar builders an opportunity to showcase their talent at the biggest custom bike show in America. When Covid-19 forced Born-Free 2020 to cancel last summer, that news had the potential to leave all six People’s Champ finalists in the cold. No Born-Free meant no Biltwell pre-party at Cook’s Corner, and no pre-party meant the people in People’s Champ wouldn’t get a chance to pick their winner. After watching all six builders bust their asses to meet the original June deadline, making them wait ‘til 2021 didn’t seem fair. Since the early vote to select the six finalists happened online, we returned to that format so chopper fans worldwide could choose the 2020 winner. Here's a look back and Part Timer Steve and his machine. Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020After sending cameramen Flynn Bryant and Geoff Kowalchuk to each finalist’s shop for an interview and photo session, we posted the content at www.peopleschampshow.com. The window for online voting was the first weekend of October—three months after Born-Free’s original June deadline. When the pixels settled on our Survey Monkey ballot, Steve Glennon from Denver, CO, won the grand prize: ten thousand dollars and a seat at the Invited Builder’s table at Born-Free 2021.Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020Steve Part Time Glennon People's Champ 2020As pictures and video prove, every motorcycle crafted by these talented builders is a showstopper. Sadly, Steven Bate’s ’81 Virago chopper wasn’t rideable by the extended deadline, so his entry wasn’t eligible for final voting. Everyone whose motorcycle made it to the finals—Steven Bate included—received a cool one thousand bucks for their hustle.
