What have you done?
I stripped my daily all the way down to the crank. Chopped up an old wishbone frame that was straight as a rainbow. Saved what I could and welded on the front half of a 70s shovel frame. I brought the neck up a few inches and back one. Married two bottom neck casting together and ran dual backbones running parallel up top. I machined and welded up a 5ft rigid front end. Got dual 18" high shoulder aluminum rims laced up with stainless spokes. Once I had my roller set I fabricated my single seat "sissy bar" that I welded onto the frame and rear axle plates. Hacked up a set of narrowed splt tanks to wrap around my top tubes, set my top motor mount, along with my hidden tank mounts. Cut up a seat pan, foamed it, and ran some round stock leading up to the tanks that I'll finish off with steel molding. Motor and trans were deeply cleaned and are in the process of a being rebuilt.
What do you have left to do?
I definitely have my work cut out for me. I need to finish up my auxiliary fuel tank that'll mount behind my seat, fabricate my oil bag, bars, foot controls, and pipes. There's some steel molding I need to finish along with some other details I'm gonna keep secret. I'll finish it off with paint and chrome where needed.
Any problems so far?
No major problems on the build so far. My biggest set back was my second knee surgery that took place back in November.
Favorite part of the bike so far?
My favorite part of the bike would definitely be my dogs ashes that I welded inside the frame. Scarlet Begonias forever.
Favorite part of the competition?
Favorite part of the competition has yet to come. I can't wait to ride this thing!
Want to give any shout outs?
Shoutout to everyone who has supported me along the way and all who haven't, it's all fuel to the fire. Huge thank you to Eric @esoteric_speed for letting me use your machinery and sharing your wealth of knowledge and to Reid @macspeedcycles for getting a jump start on my engine rebuild.
