I started riding in 1977 and always upgraded my helmets many times over the years, finally recently i bought a tiny 1975 Honda CB200 ( rose Tinted specs! ) like the one i had at 18, then i bought a 1970's Hondastyle leather jacket, all I needed was one of those retro style helmets, Bell Bullit Bought, good yes but a pastiche I felt. Then here in wet, cold windy little Great Britain I discovered the Gringo S existed and it fits so well, its so comfy ( to my surprise ) unlike my modern Arai and it looks the part totally, nothing pastiche in my Red Metalflake Gringo S, I wanted to buy a few other Metalflake colors, but the Green and Blue are History it seems. How about producing the S in a GOLD Metalflake and also try Tangerine as well, groovy! Finally I am so pleased and delighted with it that there is little to criticise except to tell Brits living in the U.K. that you will need a headsock when riding in cold winter temps, nothing for folks in California to worry about! SO new Metalflakes please!

I just bought a Vespa and have been intimidated to buy a helmet because the ones that I've seen are big and bulky. After discovering the Gringo S, I was delighted to see the color combinations available to purchase. I love this LE version I bought, and wanting to wear the helmet alone has made me want to ride more. The fits is great and the cushions are soft and comfortable. I love that you can take them out to wash or even replace the fabric completely. The only thing I would say is the make sure you've got the right fit and color. This color is awesome but I've seen pictures on Instagram of the white helmet with gold shield. That's hot too!

The Gringo S is the answer I was looking for. I've had many, many helmets of various brands to date. That said, I wanted a retro-style helmet a year or more ago, and found at the time, that the original Gringo full face was the best solution for me. It fit great, looked great, was more helmet in build quality and finish than the price dictated, and worked great for me in every way…except for one: NO FLIP-UP SHIELD. I bought googles, but the created some weird wind buffeting affect and seemed to shove massive amounts of air into my sinuses. Motorcycle-specific sunglasses with the foam around the rims to prevent watery eyes worked during the day, but it didn't solve for the fact that I wear prescription glasses at night. It wasn't an issue with my other "modern" full face helmets, but it did limit my use of this retro helmet I really loved for it's style. I was excited when the Bell Bullitt was announced. It seemed to be the perfect solution to my dilemma. Unfortunately for me, I must have the wrong shape head for the Bullitt. I bought one in the size I normally wear (L), and it was painful putting on, and torture taking it off. It literally gave my ears abrasion burns. My ears were read and soar for two days after trying the helmet on. I tried a size XL, and it rolled around my head; obviously too big. Yes, it has a bitchin' leather lining, but those leather straps in there placement were literally sandpaper against my ears. The Bullitt is seriously flawed. I've owned Arai, Scorpion, Airoh, and KBC helmets, and have NEVER had a problem like that with those other brands. So thankfully, Biltwell has answered my prayers with the perfect (for me) Gringo S. It fits great, has all the advantages of most full-face helmets with flip-up shields, and looks freakin' amazing; as-good if not better-looking than the Bullit; especially in this red metal flake. As ridiculous as this sounds, I feel compelled to have one in every color that's offered. I love it that much. If you've got a head shaped like a football or giant Tylenol pill, than the Bullit is the retro helmet for you. Congratulations. If you've got a human-shaped head, want an awesome-looking retro-style full-face helmet with a FLIP-UP SHIELD, then look no further. The Gringo S is the no-compromise solution. I'd be remiss to not have something critical to say about the helmet (to be fair), but the only thing I could come up with as a "con" is the size of the fabric bag/cover that it comes with. It fits too damn tight and it harder to put on compared to the ones that came with my other helmets from other brands. But really, who f***ing cares about that. This helmet is outstanding. Great job, Biltwell.
