I realized one day that all of my helmets are well past the recommended five year lifespan so I picked up a Gringo with the red/white/blue tracker paint scheme. I have been riding with this helmet for a month and have come to really love the fit and feel of it. The paint is surprisingly rich and I wasn't expecting the finish to be as nice as it is. The inside of the helmet is awesome. The lining is super soft and feels like micro-suede. The stitching looks great too. The lack of vents doesn't really bother me. The vents on my Shoei barely did anything except whistle at highway speeds and the ventilation in the Gringo is adequate. I haven't ridden in hot temperatures yet but I think it will be very comfortable. The helmet has a more rounded profile than I am used to. My old helmets were more oblong and when I turned by head to check my blindspots I felt like I was catching a lot of wind. Not with this helmet though, the helmet feels the same whether your looking forward or to the side at highway speeds. I currently used a smoke blast shield on it and sometimes wish I had got the Gringo S so I could flip up the visor and not fog it up. In hot weather it will probably be fine but in cold weather it is easy to fog up the shield while trying to kickstart a temperamental bike. The only other issue I have is the chin strap is really long. It does include a button to secure the loose end but I could probably do with 2 inches less of strap; those with large chins are probably thrilled about the strap. Also the sizing seems off. My head is about 23" round and I usually wear a 7 3/8 hat which would put me in an XL.I read reviews and decided to order a Large and it fits perfectly. Overall I am pleased with the helmet and have gotten a lot of comments on it. There are very few helmet manufacturers out there that make something that looks good on an old bike and Biltwell makes a solid old school helmet.
