SOLO SEAT
Motorcycle aficionados past and present consider Bates’ revered solo seat de rigueur for choppers, bobbers and customs. In recent times, Japan’s West Eagle brand has carved a niche by offering cool solo seats for builders and bikeriders. Sadly, scouring the Internet to find the perfect Bates seat just isn’t practical—the company stopped making these prized jewels eons ago. And unless you’re a regular shopper at the Long Beach swap meet, procuring a West Eagle seat can prove nearly as difficult.
In an attempt to pacify demand for both of these great seats without blatantly ripping off the shape of either one, we’re proud to offer the Biltwell Solo Seat. In so much as our seat only accommodates one ass, it is nearly identical to both offerings. In every other detail, we’ll go out on a limb and say our solo seat is even better.
The shape and curvature of our solo seat was hand hammered by Chris Collins. Functional, comfortable styling cues include a narrow profile, a short, supportive nose, gently sloping sides and a subtle rear kick to keep you from sliding off your ride. The pan is stamped from heavy gauge high-tensile steel and features ribs and indents for added rigidity and stiffness. The four threaded mounting bosses are TIG welded into position and the entire seat pan is powdercoated for beauty and weatherproofing.
The foam inside our upholstered solo seats is custom-molded, medium-density polyurethane padding—not a shapeless wedge of open-cell foam. What’s the difference? Ask your junk that question after a 150-mile ride. Our molded foam will hold its shape long after the cheap padding inside most solo seats has compressed into oblivion.

Four Cover Styles are Available:

Tuck-and-roll white vinyl
Tuck-and-roll black vinyl
Diamond pleat white vinyl

If you wish to customize your Biltwell solo seat, we offer the pan and molded foam separately.

SEAT BRACKET KIT
Like our handlebars, the Biltwell seat bracket and frame pivot are made of 4130 chromoly. Why such a rugged material? If you think your seat bracket doesn’t have to be strong, think again. We did, and we couldn’t think of a better place to put aircraft-grade chromoly steel than right between your legs. Imagine what might happen to your junk if your seat snapped off at 80 miles per hour. You can thank us later. Of course, all welds are TIG. Beautiful, strong and accurate. We could MIG weld these components, but that would belie our name.
The Biltwell seat bracket is engineered to fit the mounting studs on most solo seats. It features two long slots for adjustability. Its rugged black electroplated finish looks great as is, or you can abrade the surface with a sandblaster or steel wool for custom painting. We left the accompanying pivot bracket unfinished so it can be welded to the backbone of your frame without special preparation. An Allen cap bolt threads into the opposite side of the bracket, creating an efficient and durable hinge pin.

MSRP: $44
